Welcome to Relaxing Meditation, with Gillian Young, author of “Inner Peace a Guide to  Meditation” and creator of guided meditation and relaxation CD’s.

Gillian has been practicing meditation for more than 30 years and sharing her knowledge by teaching and facilitating meditation groups and workshops.

Personal experience has made Gillian believe passionately in the benefits of meditation.
” I have found that meditation gives me strength when confronted with difficult or traumatic situations, and keeps me focussed and balanced. Whilst working with groups I have met many people who find that meditation helps them manage health problems such as chronic illness and pain, work related stress, emotional situations, and the demands of caring for others.”

So what is meditation?

There are numbers of meditation schools, each with their unique philosophy and method, but the aim is always the same – to still “mind-chatter” and gain inner peace, allowing mind, body and spirit to be calm and rested.

Meditation provides the opportunity for a quiet “time out” in a busy life, giving a person the chance to let go of daily responsibilities for a while and just be still.

As the mind settles and the body relaxes the conditions are created for emotions to calm and peace to come into your whole being.

Meditation involves setting aside time each day – say twenty minutes – to be undisturbed. Then relax, focus on your breath to calm your thoughts, allowing your imagination to bring inspiration and free your mind.

People experience meditation in different ways, the outcome of inner peace is what is important. Everyone can meditate, just try it.

What are the benefits of meditation?

People who meditate often notice that their blood pressure lowers, hypertension reduces and they have an improved ability to cope with stress.

Support networks for sufferers of serious illness, victims of crime, accident and other trauma together with their families increasingly use meditation as part of their counselling programmes. Meditation can help you feel good about yourself and to focus and achieve goals.

Gillian’s work

Meditation has been part of my journey of self- discovery and given me better understanding and empathy with other people.

As with many people, significant life events prompted in me a heightened spiritual awareness, driving me to actively pursue esoteric knowledge. As I began to facilitate meditation groups I discovered that I had an ability to tune in to the participant’s energies and create guided meditations that suited their particular needs; this is purely intuitive. The feedback I get from people validates my work, which I regard as my community service.

“This is a recommendation for a book entitled “Inner Peace – A Guide to Meditation” by Gillian Young.
This is an excellent short book about the fundamentals of meditation. It is clearly written and easy to follow. Many of my patients have found it extremely useful as it concisely describes simple meditation practices and how to perform them. outside of formal teaching by an expert , reading this book would be one of the best ways of learning helpful relaxation and meditation techniques, which are of great benefit to many people suffering from stress and anxiety and also to those who simply want to keep in touch with their inner selves.”
